Dog Obedience Training Fundementals
There are many aspects to training your dog. One of them, and a very important element, is dog obedience training.Even though it isn't the solution to every single behavior issue, it definitely creates a strong basis for getting through many different problems.
Training in general is very important for several reasons. A good relationship and connection between your dog and yourself is established (Which makes life much easier when you clarify who's the boss…) And furthermore, your dog will feel safe and confident.
One of the advantages is that your dog will know how to behave around the house and around other people and become more domestic.
A dog will comply with its owner's commands, when he has been successfully trained. It can be on a basic level – responding to basic commands, and go on to more advanced training.
Obedience training doesn't have to be harsh and maybe boring. It is important to include the training sessions in your daily routine, making them interesting, short and rewarding (the rewarding part is extremely important).
If you have a puppy, it’s best to start training around the age of six weeks and up. Doing so beforehand will be too early, and waiting too long will delay some of the positive benefits you could be seeing. However, you’ll need to be mindful of what your dog is capable of because some dogs will not be ready until they are several months old.
The fact that you reward your dog for good behavior is crucial for the training process. The dog will learn and internalize the good rewarding behavior much quicker, the more it is rewarded.
Obedience training can be challenging, but it can also be a lot of fun. And of course, it is very rewarding for both you and your dog, when done effectively. It builds a strong relationship, based on a good bond, trust and friendship.
