Potty Training a Dog

I would like to share some ultimate house training advice. The basis of every house training is choosing your dog’s toilet and living area.

Living are is a place where your dog spends most of his time. The dog will consider his living area his den. Since dogs are naturally clean animals, they try not to soil their den and prefer to eliminate outside its borders.

When you are starting out with potty training, the essential thing is to choose potty area. You should always take your dog to the same specific place when you want him to eliminate. This might be a spot inside your garden or the local park, or a pet toilet that you keep inside your apartment (this kind of dog toilet is only suitable for smaller breeds).

The next thing in your ultimate house training guide is creating his new toilet regime. Get your dog to his toilet area once in the morning, once in the evening, and every time after you give him to eat. Regular feeding times will help you with your house training.

Each time your dog eliminates where you want him to, you should reward him and act excited and happy. Say No firmly if your dog eliminates where he is not supposed to. Most dogs will quickly understand what you want from them. If accidents happen, neutralize the odor with water, mixed with white vinegar, or commercial pet-odor eliminator.

You have to keep in mind that dog training requires patience. It could take a while for your dog to learn new habits. Hitting or shouting at your dog will only prolong his house training. If your dog has any medical problems, you should always take them into account.

For reward, most people use doggy treats. Older dogs should be rewarded without food; only with praise. The reason for this is that older dogs gain weight much more easily, so you should be careful how much food they consume.
