Training Golden Retrievers
Puppies aren’t like human beings, so they need to learn in different ways. Dogs do not have people responses, meaning that they really don’t perform with the principle of right or wrong. Instead, they perform with a principle of response, guided by the actions you give them. If their actions create a bad reaction from you, they’ll likely realize that what they’re doing is incorrect and will stay away from doing that kind of conduct.
But if your dog does something right, he should be rewarded for it. If your Golden Retriever is listening to what you say and doing well, you must reward him with a treat or praise. Letting him see that he is doing well leads to a positive response. On the other hand, if he isn’t following you or doing the absolute opposite of those actions you state, you shouldn’t reward him the least bit – but instead scold him using a stern NO.
As you are training a Golden Retriever, timing is the most important aspect. If your dog is doing something incorrectly, you shouldn’t wait or wait to correct him. This may give the wrong impression. Any time your Golden is doing something incorrectly, you need to correct him right then and there, which means that he will know without a doubt what he is doing incorrectly.
As an example, if your Golden Retriever is chasing cars, you obviously want to halt this practice before it gets it beyond control. The moment you observe him doing this, always prevent him and let him understand he’s wrong. By doing this, he will realize that chasing cars and trucks is something he shouldn’t be doing. It may require some time for him to realize this, and you will will want to hold your ground and continue to correct him each time he is doing something that you don’t like.
This kind of principle is comparable to that of praise. When you see a Golden Retriever doing something right, you need to praise him right away. If you do not praise him immediately but rather stall until he has finished, he’ll presume that you are praising him for stopping. To be on the safe side and get the maximum from your Golden, you should always praise him when he’s acting in the right way, then correct him when he is behaving in a bad way.
When you spend some time and show tolerance with a Golden Retriever, you should not experience any difficulties training him. The training task may well need quite a bit of time, although it is quite worth it in the end. After you have trained your Golden Retriever, he’ll respond to the actions you say, and steer clear of doing the actions he may be corrected for. Golden Retriever training is important for your dog and will make him a lot better four-legged friend once he grows older.
